FAQ: Stormlight Premium Miniatures
For the most up-to-date information about the status of our project, check our project updates on Kickstarter!

What makes these miniatures premium quality?

We know a lot of Stormlight fans will purchase these miniatures just to display them. With that in mind, we want to make sure even our unpainted minis are great looking collectibles. That starts with the sculpt. Our miniatures feature dynamic poses and intricate details because we split each character into several molds. Each miniature is then carefully assembled. Our 34 mm scale is slightly larger than standard 28-32 mm miniatures, allowing for more detail without looking out of place next to other tabletop RPG minis. Whether you use them for gaming or simply show them off your bookshelf, you can be sure these minis will look great!

Our figurines are deluxe pre-painted miniatures, ranging between 3.25” and 3.75” in height (almost double the size of our minis). Every figurine is painted and presented in collector-quality packaging. This larger size allows us to balance the need to manufacture significant quantities while ensuring that every miniature is still hand painted. We’ve done our best to deliver a great-looking figurine at a price below the usual cost to commission a hand-painted miniature.

How big is everything?

The unpainted minis average 45 mm tall (1.75 inches); the painted figurines average 88 mm tall (3.5 inches); the Chasmfiend is a whopping 145 mm tall (5.7 inches) and the statue clocks in at a shelf-display worthy size of 300 mm tall (almost 12 inches)! For a comparison chart, head to our main Campaign page and scroll to the bottom.

How many pieces total am I getting if I go All-In?

At campaign launch, the All-In pledge includes 24 unpainted main-character minis (but that number could grow!), the unpainted Gargantuan Chasmfiend, 4 unpainted “Army Builder” minis, four painted figurines, and the giant statue. You’ll also get a digital rewards pack of 3D files you can use to print your own minis if you have a 3D printer. The only Add-On not included in the All-In pledge level is the Official Paint Set, which can be added in BackerKit.

What are the minis, figurines and statues made out of?

The miniatures and figurines will be made out of a high quality formulation of PVC plastic. It’s tough, flexible enough to avoid breakage, and holds detail well. The statue will be made out of premium resin, with the presence and texture of stone.

What if I just want an Add-On, rather than one of the existing pledge levels?

If you want a specific Add-On, that’s no problem. For example, if you want the Clashing Storms statue ($350) and the painted miniatures ($50 for a set of four), but no unpainted miniatures, you could make a $400 pledge and select “Make a pledge without a reward.” Those funds will appear in the BackerKit pledge manager at the end of the campaign, and can be applied to your chosen items at that time.

Are these the official depictions of these characters?

Absolutely! This has been a visual development project first, merchandise project second. Brotherwise worked hand-in-hand with Brandon Sanderson to capture his vision of what these characters look like, and these designs will affect future illustrations and projects. We’ll be sharing a closer look at the design process, including many never-before-seen characters, over the course of this campaign!

Does this project include Kickstarter-exclusive rewards?

This campaign will be the first and easiest way to get any of these rewards, and some rewards may be hard to find in the future. (In particular, the showpiece “Clashing Storms” statue is likely to have a limited run.) But we will do our best to make these items available in the future, on BrandonSanderson.com, and at conventions.

I have received no survey and when I request one from BackerKit, nothing shows up. What do I do?

Here are the troubleshooting steps for anyone else encountering this rare issue:

  1. Login to https://www.kickstarter.com/settings/account and see what your email address is set to.

  2. Go to your inbox for the email address that is listed. Also check your Junk and/or Spam folders.

  3. Search for [email protected] in your email. Be sure to add it to your address book or safe list.

  4. Go to https://stormlight-minis.backerkit.com and enter your Kickstarter email address and click “Get My Survey.” Repeat steps 1-3.

  5. If you have changed your email address in Kickstarter recently, the BackerKit pledge manager may have your old email address. Please check the inbox and Junk/Spam folders for your old address if you have access to it.

  6. If you no longer have access to the email address used, or if your address is a “@privaterelay.appleid.com” address, please take a screenshot that includes your pledge details and Backer ID # / Pledge Number and send this screenshot with your preferred email address and Kickstarter username included in the body of the email to [email protected].

  7. If all else fails, email [email protected] and let them know you’ve already gone through these steps. Please know that support response times vary.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
